About – Henry Barima

Hi there.

My name is Henry Barima, and I am a UX designer and digital-accessibility consultant based in The Hague, Netherlands. I specialize in crafting intuitive, inclusive digital experiences that empower every user. Starting with in‑depth research, I translate WCAG 2.2 guidelines into clear wireframes, interactive prototypes and practical quick wins that remove barriers and build confidence.

Over the years I have guided products from discovery to delivery, ensuring every interaction is seamless. Today, as an independent professional operating under A11y By Design, I provide hands‑on design, accessibility audits and awareness sessions for web and mobile products.

I am currently available for freelance assignments and long‑term collaborations with teams that share my mission of making the digital world more inclusive.

My work revolves around designing accessible and intuitive digital experiences. From crafting seamless interfaces to conducting user research, I strive to bridge the gap between user needs and business goals. Notable projects include:

Physitrack for Teens: Redesigned a rehabilitation app to improve usability and engagement for younger users.
TKH Security: Delivered innovative solutions for integrated hardware and software security platforms.
KPN Nederland – Designed a clickable prototype for Mobile Connect, supporting business development and innovation in telecom.

My Background

I’m a UX Designer based in The Hague, Netherlands, with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication & Multimedia Design and a background in front-end development. My experience spans security, healthcare, and telecom, where I focus on accessibility, inclusive design, and innovation to create seamless digital experiences that bridge the gap between design and technology

Why Accessibility (a11y)

I'm obsessed with accessibility because I believe an inclusive digital world is essential for equal opportunities. Accessibility isn't just a technical requirement for me—it's a core principle that ensures everyone, regardless of their abilities, can fully participate in the digital society. By prioritizing accessible design, I create solutions that are both visually appealing and highly functional, ultimately contributing to a digital landscape that serves everyone.

Beyond Design

When I’m not working, you can find me drawing inspiration from classic Japanese anime films like those from Studio Ghibli or watching thought-provoking series like Black Mirror and Severance.

I’m also passionate about cooking, experimenting with vegan versions of West African dishes, blending tradition with innovation.

In addition to my own work, I support my sister with the design and website for ByBarima, our family business that sells whipped shea butter.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, I’m inspired by classic Japanese anime films, particularly Studio Ghibli, and thought-provoking series like Black Mirror and Severance. I also enjoy experimenting with vegan versions of West African dishes, blending creativity in the kitchen with my passion for innovation.
